Short-Handed, Fully-Locked in: TSI Select 9th Grade Boys Dominate in Lafayette

When the odds are stacked, the strong rise—and the TSI Select 9th Grade boys did just that this past weekend at the Go Hard or Go Hard Tournament at Legacy Courts in Lafayette, Indiana.

Rolling into the tournament without several key players, this resilient group could have backed down. Instead, they stepped up. Select went a perfect 4-0 on the weekend, pushing their summer record to an impressive 23-3 and proving that ball movement, hustle, and playing as a team are what truly define champions.

Game one set the tone as Select locked in defensively and cruised to a 35-20 win over Faith Disciples Gold. Caiden Boswell (Scottsburg) led the scoring charge with 12 points, while Ethan Noble (Floyd Central) added 10. Blake Gunter (South Ripley) pulled down 10 boards, and Noble dished out 5 assists to pace the offense.

In game two, the team faced a tough Legacy Ice Elite squad but came out on top 47-40. Boswell stayed hot with 11 points, while Lucas Hobbs (South Central) and Noble each dropped 9. Hudson Smith (Floyd Central) dominated the glass with 8 rebounds, and Noble again ran the show with 4 assists.

Select kept the momentum rolling in their third game, steamrolling FNP 16U by a score of 59-31. Boswell poured in 16 points, Noble added 14, and Gunter chipped in 13. Gunter controlled the boards with 14 rebounds, while both Boswell and Noble handed out 5 assists apiece.

The championship was a rematch with Legacy Ice Elite, who brought plenty of trash talk—but Select brought the defense. Shutting things down early with high-intensity pressure, Select silenced the noise and walked away with a 45-20 title win. Noble led all scorers with 16 points on an efficient 6-of-9 shooting. Gunter snagged 9 rebounds and Noble capped off the weekend with 6 more assists.

Shoutout to Blake Gunter (South Ripley) and Jace Wright (Hauser) who stepped up big this weekend, bringing toughness, energy, and physicality in the paint. Their impact was felt every minute they were on the floor.
