ree

The TSI 9th & 10th grade girls proved that heart, hustle, and teamwork can take you a long way—even without their dynamic duo, the Nussbaum sisters. Despite missing their “Double Trouble,” these athletes stormed through the Reebok Spring Championships in Cape Girardeau, MO, finishing with an impressive 4-1 record and a trip to the title game.

Saturday: Starting Off with a Bang

TSI opened pool play with a statement win, demolishing Hoops Academy 33-7. Yes, you read that right—33 to 7! Their defense was downright suffocating, allowing just one field goal the entire game. Addison Petro (Jennings County) led the charge with 7 points, while four other players chipped in 6 apiece. Emma Ousley (Austin) controlled the boards with 4 rebounds, and Hailey Dunham (Jennings County) dished out 2 assists to set the tone.

Game two on Saturday saw TSI take down the Lady Silver Foxes, 24-18. Tiarra Lewis (Clarksville) led the way with 7 points, Josie Hubbard (Southwestern) added 5, and Petro contributed another 4. Petro also dominated the glass with 8 rebounds, while Sophie Ford (Southwestern) dropped a couple of slick dimes to lead in assists.

Sunday: Turning Up the Heat

On Sunday, the girls turned on the jets.

In their first tournament matchup, TSI lit up the scoreboard in a 48-14 win over Elevate Basketball. Hubbard poured in 10 points, Ousley added 9, and Bella Riley (Crothersville) dropped 8 of her own. Ousley also pulled down 7 rebounds, while Ford handed out 4 assists in a smooth offensive performance.

Next up? Another run-in with the Lady Silver Foxes. This time, TSI left no doubt, rolling to a dominant 32-6 victory. Petro led all scorers with 10 points, Lewis followed with 7, and Ava Simler (Lanesville) contributed 6.

and Ousley both grabbed 4 boards, while Dunham handed out 3 assists to keep the offense flowing.

Championship Game: A Battle to the End

The title game was a thriller, as TSI faced off against a tough squad, We Different. It was a back-and-forth battle, but TSI ultimately fell just short, 41-36. Still, they went down swinging.

Ousley capped off her tournament with a breakout performance—12 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Lewis added 8 points of her own, and the team fought with grit and determination until the final buzzer.

What’s Next?

This was more than just a tournament run—it was a statement. Even without two of their key players, this TSI group showed they can hang with anyone. With heart, hustle, and depth, they're already looking ahead to their next challenge—and another shot at championship gold.

Way to go, girls! Onward and upward. 💪🏀
