From Team Turmoil to Team Triumph: TSI Select 10th Grade Boys Shine at Grassroots Showcase

Updated: May 3

The TSI Select 10th grade boys made major noise last weekend at the Grassroots Showcase in Louisville, KY! With over 500 teams battling it out under one roof—yes, 70 courts inside the massive Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center—this was the place to be for high-level hoops.

Just a few weeks ago in Owensboro, the story was much different. TSI Select stumbled to a 1-2 finish in a tournament they had every right to win. Critics labeled them “Team Turmoil.”

But that was then. This is now.

Fast forward to Louisville: this group came together with something to prove—and boy, did they deliver.

Friday night, the boys tipped things off with a gritty, back-and-forth 56-53 win over PUSH Elite. On Saturday, they stayed hot, edging out Ohio Crossover 70-63 in another nail-biter. The reward? A spot in the Platinum bracket—something few thought they could pull off.

Later that night, they ran into a buzzsaw in OFW Galaxy, falling 60-29 in a game where the offense just couldn’t find its rhythm. But these boys weren’t done.

In the Platinum 5th Place game, down by six points with just over a minute to go, TSI mounted an epic comeback, capped by a buzzer-beating game-winner from Brock Dean (Brownstown Central) to steal the win, 49-48!

  • Hudson Withers (Corydon)

  • Brock Dean (Brownstown)

  • Carter Hundley (Austin)

  • Braxton Sinclair (Trinity Lutheran)

  • Ben Groover (Corydon)

  • Kilas Brock (Brownstown)

  • Kaden White (Austin)

  • Hunter Seacat (Corydon)

Once called Team Turmoil, they’ve rewritten the narrative. Now? They’re the team out to shock the doubters and prove exactly what they can do.

Next stop: Reebok Spring Championships, May 17–18 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Buckle up.
