Crothersville fans already know it, but the rest of the SAC is starting to learn fast: when Carter Jones has the ball, good things happen for the Tigers.
The 5’11” floor general put on a show Saturday night, guiding Crothersville to a thrilling 73–68 road win at Eastern Pekin. Jones was everywhere — scoring 22 points, dropping 3 assists, and turning the ball over only once despite playing nearly the entire game at full throttle.
And “full throttle” is exactly how the Tigers operate. Under coach Bryant Layman, Crothersville’s trademark is simple: play faster than everyone else. It’s a chaotic, high-octane style that wears teams down… unless you’re Carter Jones. For him, it’s where he thrives. Controlling the pace, weaving through defenders, and making smart decisions at top speed — it’s all part of the Carter Jones experience.
Saturday’s win was more than just another check in the W column. It pushed the Tigers to 2–0 in SAC play, placing them right at the top of the conference with momentum to burn.
If Jones keeps running the show like this, Crothersville is going to be a tough out for anyone on their schedule — and a whole lot of fun to watch along the way.
