TSI Player Spotlight: Lucas Hobbs of South Central

Friday night in SAC conference play delivered everything you could ask for: intensity, momentum swings, and a packed gym buzzing late into the night. When the dust finally settled after overtime, it was Lucas Hobbs and the South Central Rebels standing tall with an 84–77 OT victory over the Borden Braves—and Hobbs was at the center of it all.

The 6’0” sophomore guard put on a show, pouring in 25 points , pulling down 4 rebounds, and coming up with 3 steals in one of the biggest conference games of the season. Time and time again, when South Central needed a bucket, Hobbs answered the call. Whether it was attacking the rim, knocking down shots in rhythm, or steadying the Rebels during crunch time, Hobbs played well beyond his years.

What makes the performance even more impressive? Hobbs isn’t just asked to score—he’s asked to play big. On a young Rebels roster, Hobbs is one of the tallest players at just 6’0”, yet he consistently battles in the paint, competes on the glass, and takes on whatever role the team needs.
