If you’re looking for a player who can change a game in a hurry, look no further than Mikayla Nussbaum of Southwestern. The dynamic sophomore combo guard has put together an outstanding season for the Rebels and continues to prove why she’s one of the most dangerous guards on the floor every single night.
Nussbaum was at it again this week, lighting up Switzerland County in a dominant 55–21 win. Mikayla poured in 21 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists, while knocking down an impressive 6-of-11 from three-point range. When Mikayla gets going from deep, defenses are on high alert—because she’s a deadly long-range shooter who can score in bunches.
But it’s not just one big night. Mikayla has been a key piece in leading Southwestern to a 13–5 start to the season, including winning nine of their last ten games. Her confidence, scoring ability, and all-around game have helped turn the Rebels into a team nobody wants to see as postseason play approaches.
What makes this Southwestern squad even more exciting? They’re young—and loaded with talent. Mikayla is joined by her sister Savannah Nussbaum, sophomore Sophie Ford, and dynamic freshman Josie Hubbard, all of whom have competed in the TSI program. That chemistry, combined with their skill and fearless style of play, makes this Rebels team very young, very hungry, and very dangerous heading into sectional play in just a few weeks.
Keep an eye on Mikayla Nussbaum and the Southwestern Rebels—because this group is just getting started, and the best may still be ahead. ⭐🔥
